Our Story
Family. Resilience. Opportunity.
Rufino “Rufy” Garcia’s journey is a story of family, resilience, and turning adversity into opportunity.
Rufy, his father, and his three brothers came to the United States with a dream of building a better future. Like many immigrant families, they started at the bottom—washing dishes in Mexican restaurants. Through hard work, determination, and a commitment to learning every aspect of the business, they eventually built a successful family of restaurants.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, their longtime food distributor unexpectedly stopped servicing their restaurants. Faced with the possibility of disrupting operations across the family business, Rufy didn’t wait for someone else to solve the problem.

He bought a cargo van and began purchasing food and restaurant supplies personally for his family’s restaurants. What started as a necessity quickly revealed a much bigger opportunity. Rufy realized that by controlling the supply chain, the family could improve reliability, strengthen purchasing power, and build something that would support not only their own restaurants but many others as well.
That decision became the foundation of Alamo Food Services.
Today, Alamo Food Services has grown from one cargo van into a major regional food distribution company headquartered in a large warehouse in Union City, Georgia. The company sources products from manufacturers and growers, manages warehousing and logistics, and supplies restaurants throughout the region with the products they need to operate successfully.
“When the supply chain failed them, they built their own.”
The story of Alamo Food Services is more than a business success story. It is the story of a family that refused to let circumstances determine its future.
What began with four brothers, their father, and a willingness to wash dishes has become a vertically integrated food enterprise serving restaurants across Georgia—and the vision continues to grow.
